Ellis County drivers

Why some Midlothian drivers test in Arlington.

The closest DPS office for most Midlothian residents is the Ellis County DPS driver license office. If you cannot find a DPS road test appointment that fits your week, or your car may not meet DPS rules, testing here is another official option.

A third party test here trades a longer drive for a set appointment, a school car if you need one, and the chance to warm up right before. You still finish the license at DPS, but that visit is paperwork, a photo and a vision check.

★★★★★ Lesson + test same day
Mr.Hassan was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the driving lesson, I managed to finish my lesson and take the test on the same day. Definitely recommend

★★★★★ Warm-up before the test
I passed a road test at this driving academy and all went smoothly with no issues. I took a warm-up class before the test and the instructor was very polite and assistive.

Is there a driving school near Midlothian TX that gives the road test?
Midlothian students take the official Texas road test at our academy in Arlington, a DPS-authorized third party test site about 35 to 40 minutes north on US-287 and I-20. Tests run seven days a week from $75.
Can I take a practice lesson and the road test on the same trip?
Yes, and it saves a second trip. The 1-hour practice lesson in our car followed by the official road test is $175. One drive, one morning.
Do you pick up students in Midlothian?
Pickup only covers Arlington addresses, so it does not reach Midlothian. Plan to drive in or be dropped off at 1030 W Arkansas Ln, Suite 307.
Do I still go to a DPS office after passing?
Yes. The road test result goes to a Texas DPS driver license office, where you complete the license, photo and vision check. For Midlothian, that is the Ellis County DPS driver license office. Book it on the DPS scheduler.
What if I do not pass?
You can book another test. It is worth adding a lesson on the part that cost you points first, such as backing or parallel parking, since those parts fail with more than 5 and more than 7 points off under 37 Tex. Admin. Code §15.56.
Who from Midlothian should test with you?
Teens from Midlothian High School and Midlothian Heritage High School who finished drivers ed, adults 18 to 24 with the 6-hour course certificate, and adults 25 and older who just need the road test.
Drivers ed Midlothian TX: what are my options?
Teens can take our TDLR-approved 24-hour online course for $99 at home. The 14 in-car hours happen with us in Arlington, about 35 to 40 minutes away, through Teen Behind the Wheel ($440) or the $530 Full Package, which includes the online course. Adults 18 to 24 can take the $75 online 6-hour course. Online checkout adds a $1 booking fee and a card processing fee.
