Your first lesson, step by step

What a first lesson looks like, in English or Spanish.

If you have never driven, or it has been a long time, here is exactly what happens. Nothing moves faster than you are ready for.

01

Tell us your language

When you book, say if you want the lesson in Spanish. The whole lesson can be taught in Spanish.

02

Set up the car

Seat, mirrors and belt first. Your instructor has a second brake pedal, so you are never alone with the car.

03

Quiet streets first

Starting, stopping and turning on calm roads near the academy. Busier roads come when you are ready.

04

Clear feedback

At the end you hear what went well and what to practice next, in the language you learned in.

Ready for the test? The official DPS road test is $75 in your own car or $100 in our insured, dual-control Toyota Corolla. If the Grand Prairie DPS office has a road test slot that works for you and your car is ready, testing there is a good option too.

Lessons in Spanish

Driving lessons in Spanish for Grand Prairie families.

A road test is a bad time to translate instructions in your head. If Spanish is the language you think in, learn in it. Lessons can be taught fully in Spanish, from mirror checks to the parallel parking steps the examiner scores.

If your teen prefers English and you prefer Spanish, tell us when you book. We can switch between English and Spanish in the same lesson, and the paperwork for the road test (DE-964, ADE-1317, Impact Texas Drivers) gets explained in plain Spanish before test day.

Still have a question?(469) 550-1743Call us now
Is there a driving school in Grand Prairie that gives the DPS road test?
Grand Prairie drivers take the official Texas road test at our academy in Arlington, a DPS-authorized third party test site about 15 to 20 minutes from central Grand Prairie. The test is the same one DPS gives. After you pass, you take your results to a DPS driver license office for the license.
Can I take driving lessons and the road test in Spanish?
Lessons, yes: they can be taught fully in Spanish. For the road test, we explain each step and the scoring in Spanish before test day. Tell us when you book. Yes, we speak Spanish.
Do you pick up students in Grand Prairie?
Not in Grand Prairie, sorry. We pick up and drop off at Arlington addresses only (free within 5 miles of the office, $15 beyond 5 miles). Grand Prairie students meet us at 1030 W Arkansas Ln, Suite 307, and the lesson starts there.
How much is drivers ed for a Grand Prairie teen?
The TDLR-approved 24-hour online course is $99. The 14 hours of behind-the-wheel training are $440, or $530 for the full package: the online course (permit test included), the 14 in-car hours and the DE-964 certificate. The road test is booked separately from $75.
Where do I get my license after I pass?
At a Texas DPS driver license office. Grand Prairie has its own DPS driver license office. Book that visit on the DPS scheduler and bring your passing results.
How many points can I miss on the Texas road test?
Under 37 Tex. Admin. Code §15.56 you fail with more than 30 points off on the on-street drive, more than 5 on backing, or more than 7 on parallel parking. A wheel going over the curb or onto a sidewalk, touching a parking standard, any preventable contact, or breaking a traffic law ends the test right away.
