Our senior driving course is a 90-minute private lesson in our car for $120, for drivers 65 and older. It is a lesson, not a test: a patient instructor, a dual-control car, the roads you actually drive, and a pace you set. Book online, or call and we will find a time that suits you.
One option, done well
We teach senior drivers in the car only. There is no classroom course at the moment. A senior lesson is an in-car assessment by a licensed instructor, not a medical evaluation.

Start with one lesson. Whether a second one would help is entirely your call after you hear the feedback.
In the car
A senior driving evaluation here is a 90-minute drive with a licensed instructor in our dual-control car, on roads you choose: your route to church, the grocery store, or I-20 if you still use it. Your first lesson starts somewhere quiet, then moves to busier streets as you are ready.
At the end, the instructor tells you kindly and plainly what went well and what to work on. What you do with that is up to you.
This is not a medical or occupational therapy evaluation. If a doctor has raised a concern, ask about a certified driver rehabilitation specialist.
If DPS asks for one
Texas does not require a senior driving test at a set age. From 79 you renew in person, and DPS gives a vision test. A driving test comes up only if the DPS examiner or a medical report raises a concern.
If you have been asked to take one, a practice drive with us first shows you the format: on-street driving, backing and parallel parking, scored the same way DPS scores every Texas driver.
Texas rules for older drivers
| Your age | How you renew | License valid for |
|---|---|---|
| Under 79 | Online, by mail or in person, depending on eligibility | Every 8 years |
| 79 to 84 | In person, with a vision test | 6 years |
| 85 and older | In person, with a vision test | 2 years |
Google reviews
Reviews from students of all ages, quoted as written on Google.
“in my case I was very nervous before going, then little by little my nerves went away because they make you feel quite comfortable and confident, I recommend them without a doubt.”
“He doesn’t insist on extra classes and recommended only 2-3 classes were good enough. By then, I was confident enough and cleared my test in the first try.”
